hi guys! so i'm back in la. i just built my salon in our little studio. so weve got some lighting going on over here. ive got my whole tray of color and productsso i'm really excited to show you guys this
how do you do an ombre hair color, tutorial. and just so you know if you want to skip thispart and get to the tutorial i'll put the number right down here so you can click tothat. but i just want to give you a little updateon my life.
my fiancee and i just moved back to los angelesand i decided to open pretty much my own studio and film tutorials for you guys and make surei can really focus on this. and that's what i'm doing so today i'm workingon my girl aprils hair. were following the inspiration of this girlcalled sincerelyjules. she's on instagram and so i'll put her linkright here so you guys can see all of her pictures. her hair is the inspiration for today. so it's got this really beautiful wave patternbut also has these really poppy pieces everywhere. and a really pretty blended highlighted lookwith a deep root.
so what i'm going to do is this techniquei've been seeing a lot. all over instagram, all over youtube especiallyon ahn co tran, justin anderson, stephan garrison. they are all of my favs! but it's this teasing technique so i'm goingto give that a shot today. i hope you guys love the tutorial and learna lot and leave me comments below and any questions ya have please write me and yeahi hope you guys love it and i'll see ya once were done! before... after!
obsessed! okay so this is my first time using redken'sup to 7 and their we are oh heyyyy! so yeah my first time using redken up to 7and the ph bond builder by redken and i highly recommend both. this is also the first time i've tried thistechnique so i want you guys to know if you are out there for the first time we are doingit together. so first off i started framing the face withreally thin highlights and i made sure that everytime i wove a thin highlight i teasedit and that's just to blend that root to make it look a little more natural.
so that's what i'm doing here and totallysaturating the ends and then lightly feathering up into that root. and just repeat exactly what you did on theother side. so next what you want to do is take quarterinch sections of hair and i'm teasing about 80% of that hair back into her root and whatthats going to do is leave you with 20% of the hair left and you totally saturate thatinto the lightener. and that's what "tipping" is. it's a color technique. ramireztran salon is doing it.
it's pretty much all over the lived in hairlooks where the ends are super bright and poppy but the rest is really blended. that's what were trying to achieve today. so again i'm taking like 80% of that hairand totally teasing it back into the root and then completely saturating the ends sowe can get them as bright as possible. but don't forget to feather the lightenerback into the teased section just so you get that really pretty blend. so again what i'm doing is pretty much takinga circular pattern all the way up and around her head but i'm leaving pretty much the entirebottom section out because we wanted a lot
of dimension but keep going around and takingthe small pieces all the way around the head. imagine she is wearing a big floppy hat atthe beach thats the section we are going for. then completely saturating those ends. feathering up and going all the way up intothe crown. so if your client comes in and they want tosee that really poppy blonde on the ends i highly recommend using 40 volume in the foils. i would just make sure you were using sometype of bond building agent like olaplex or b3 has a great one. or i highly recommend using the redken phbond builder just so that theirs hair safe
while it's in foils with 40 volume. if you do put them under heat just make sureyou are checking them frequently and that nothing is ... going to melt off. :-d also if their hair is natural you can reallydo a lot with this technique. you don't have to just use bleach. but if you are using bleach you can do differentlevels of different developers. i could do 40 and 20 and you could vary thepacks to each of those developers. if your client is completely natural likeapril is here you could lift with color and you could play with different shades of redor auburn.
anything you really could have fun with this. please let me know if you guys do anythingfun with this or tag me on any of my social media links. so once youre finished with that i just wentthrough and i took the extra lightener that i have and 'm using it just to balayage herends so i'm just taking small pieces that are hanging out and doing v shaped patternsand painting them on to add a little pop at the end and accent pieces down there whileshe processes. of course we have to take a selfie for snapchat! but okay i did do a little bit of heat onher and waited until i got to like a carmel
color because she didn't want to be too bright. so i took her back to the bowl, rinsed andapplied the ph bond builder for 10 minutes. and also used a wet brush to detangle her. so this is step one guys we still have anotherstep to go. were going to go back and do a partial highlightand here's the section i created. it's just a mohawk section and i brought itpretty far back so that when it does lay that it does cover the back too. so i'm going to begin in the front and i'mgoing to do a pretty thick weave. but everytime ido a weave i'm going to teaseagain.
and that's just to ensure that we hae thatrooted look that everyone is loving right now. so again guys i'm going to use up to 7 with30 volume and 4ml of redkens ph bond builder. i;m going to tease each section again andlightly feather that into the root. and i'm going to go all the way back into the back of her head with my partial highlight. so when aprils case we wanted to have rooted look. but if you have a client who wants to see those highlights directly from the root makes sure you apply the bleach all the way up there just so that they get that look. and don't worry about teasing it at all! so once youre finished with that i'm going to rinse and then tone with 1 ounce of 9v one ounce of 9nb and 1 ounce of clear. and i'm to apply that all over for 15 minutes.
and then shampoo, rinse with your favorite shampoo and conditioner. in our case we used redken extreme. and then i'm blowing her out with my favorite blowdryer ever! it's the elcheim! if you guys need the best blowdryer of all time i will link this down below you will not regret it! and this is our final look right here! so this is with it straight and then i curled it just to match @sincerelyjules hair. and i'm seriously obsessed with it. i love everything about it! i think it's such a beautiful blend. and it has those poppy pieces that we wanted right in front of the face. and it's not too much. it's just the perfect amount of color. it really looks natural
and i just think she looks absolutely stunning. so as always thank you for watching!!! i appreciate your support and any questions or comments you might have please leave them below. iove answering them.
