close the scanner lid. press the power button to turn the printer back on. try your original copy, fax, or scan job again. if the copy, fax or scan prints successfully with no lines or streaks, the issue is resolved. if the copy, fax, or scan still has lines or streaks on the printout, continue on to the next step. dust or dirt in the automatic document feeder, also known as the adf, can also cause streaks or lines. in this step, we’ll clean the adf. begin by gathering the following cleaning materials. clean, lint-free cloth. clean water to dampen the cloth. distilled, filtered, or bottled water is preferable.


tap water might damage the printer. first make sure the printer is off. if it is on, press the power button to turn it off . turn to the back. unplug the power cord. go to the front of the printer. remove all documents from the document feeder tray. lift the adf cover by pulling up on the opening in the middle of the adf. . lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth with distilled water and squeeze any excess liquid from the cloth. next, locate the two rollers attached to the adf cover. use the damp cloth to wipe any residue off the rollers. use your fingers to turn the


rollers toward the printer. make sure you remove any buildup or debris from the entire surface of the roller. then, using the same cloth, wipe any residue off of the separator pad and cork strip. once all the cleaned parts have dried, close the adf cover. generally the rollers will dry in 10-15 minutes. go to the back of the printer. plug the power cord back into the printer. go to the front of the printer. press the power button to turn the printer back on. try your original copy, fax, or scan job again. if the copy, fax or scan prints successfully with no lines or streaks, the issue is resolved. if the copy, fax, or scan still has lines
