[music playing] hi. this is james, yourclairol color director. in today's lesson, i'mgoing to teach you how to get and keep the perfect red color.
loreal burgundy hair color review, red is tricky because, likeall color, the skin tone is so important toachieving great results. but it's most important with red. red can be both warm-- havingorange undertones-- and cool, which
means having violet undertones. so now that we've gotthat straight, let's take a minute to analyze your skin tone. if you have an ivory,peaches-and-cream, or neutral skin tone, and if you're on the medium to fairside, then you have a cooler skin tone, and a vivacious copper, with warm, gorgeous locks, will look great on you. if you have yellow or olivecomplexion, your skin tone is warm, and the reddish-browns to auburnswork best for your skin tone. they're the cooler reds, and wewant to work opposite the skin tone.
if you're unsure of yourskin tone, take a moment to look at the inner part of your wrist. veins that appear greenishindicate yellow tones. if your skin is cool, thenyour veins appear to be bluish, which indicates a cool skin tone. now it's time to talk about your hair. if you have medium todark brown hair, you need to select a shade of red thatis two levels lighter in order to see the red shade toneswithin your hair color.
otherwise, your hair colorwill overpower your features. if you have a lightbrown to dark blond hair, and you like to add just ahint of redness to your color, then try selecting a demi-permanentred shade and apply to your area as you would a glaze. you will want to apply the color asinstructed, but here are a few insider tips of mine to help you out. because madison has a neutral skin toneand a starting color of light brown, we selected nice 'n easy6r110-- natural light auburn.
this is going to give madison avibrant glow and gorgeous, red hair. ok, let's break it down andgo through our instructions. put on your expert colorer's gloves. next, tear off and discard the tabfrom the color activator bottle. then, unscrew the cap. open the color blend formula bottle, and pour the contents in the applicator bottle. replace the applicator bottle cap. place your gloved fingerover the applicator bottle,
and shake well until thecolor is totally blended. draw a small v into your hairline, andapply the color mixture to the roots. then apply your red shadeto your mid-shaft and ends. healthy hair will keep your red haircolor longer, so keep that styling down to once per week. this will also help with the fading. here's another tip. better-lasting reds are createdby using a separate formula with natural instinctsnon-ammonia color for the ends.
now, i know this might seem confusing. and you might think thatpermanent hair color lasts longer because it's permanent. but this is not alwaysthe case, especially when it comes to treatingthe ends of red hair. now that you've perfectedyour red, here's three quick tips on how to maintain it. tip number one, use red shampoo--not just color-safe shampoos, but reds that have a hintof red color to them.
this can be used once a week to preserveyour shade in between colorings. tip number two, refreshwith a demi-permanent color, like natural instincts. this will re-deposit color. its like a hair gloss. using a demi-permanent inbetween permanent colorings will help you maintain thevibrancy that you're looking for. tip number three, make acup of red rooibos tea. in addition to color glossingsin between permanent colors,
this is mother nature's recipe. once a week, soak two teabags-- we have one here, but you're using two-- red rooibostea in six ounces of water. beet and pomegranate juice worktoo, but today, we're using tea. put this mixture into a spraybottle, spritz it onto the hair, and leave it on for 30 minutes. rinse. and this will naturally enhancethe red undertones in your hair. it's safe to use as often as youwant, and you can drink it, too.
