today i’m going to introduce another toolevery drawing artist should have, the kneaded eraser.kneaded erasers are very different from your traditional erasers, because they are pliable,like putty. these erasers have the ability to last a verylong time, because when they become covered in graphite of charcoal, all you have to dois knead it to create a fresh surface.
sanford prismacolor premier colored pencils, over time, however, you will have to replaceyour kneaded eraser, but with good care they will outlast most of your other drawing supplies.the biggest benefit a kneaded eraser provides is the fact that it can lift the graphiteor charcoal off the paper without the fear of damaging it.since the eraser is pliable, you can form
it into many different shapes and sizes. youcan make it as thin as a blade, into a point, or keep the surface area large in order toerase as little or as much as you need. these erasers don’t always have to be usedto take back mistakes. they can also be used in a technique called rendering.rendering is when you add darker values, and then use your eraser in order to soften thetones in order to create an image. this can be done on a large scale, by renderingan entire drawing this way. you can also use rendering on small areas of your drawing inorder to create gradual fading.
